After Dario Saric missed 3 of 4 free throws and Devin Booker committed a turnover to give the Blazers the ball with a one-point lead, 117-116 and only seconds left. . . Robert Covington went on to miss a pair of free throws himself, and then Booker forced the Blazers into a foul with 2 https://www.phoenixfanstoreonline.com/Chris_Paul_T_shirt-22. 4 to go. . . and DRAINED FREE THROWS TO WIN THE GAMEPhew. My fingers are out of breath after that one. SUNS WIN 118-117. Suns leaders:Team: +9 on rebounds, +13 on second chance pointsCameron Payne: 21 points (8-12 shooting), 6 rebounds, 5 assists off the benchChris Paul: 26 points, 7 assists, 1 turnoverDevin Booker: 18 points (5-17 shooting), but made the game winning free throwsMikal Bridges: 21 points, 11 rebounds!Crazy Crazy game in this one. . . crazy game. Suns were lucky to win it. Read on for how it happened. . . . The Suns learned a lesson all right. They learned from the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night that you can hustle your way to a win regardless of talent. With Deandre Ayton (sore knee) now joining Cameron Johnson (sore wrist) on the sideline while the Blazers were healthy and rolling, they decided that extra effort was needed and they delivered. They out-rebounded a good rebounding team, getting extra shots and extra second-chance points to stay even with the Blazers until the shots (finally) started falling. The Suns barely eclipsed 40% shooting but took a 10-point lead before the end of the third. Mikal Bridges was a star on the floor in this one, with a 19/10 game before the fourth quarter even started. Injured (playoff rotation players)Suns: Deandre Ayton (sore knee), Cameron Johnson (sore wrist)Blazers: noneHow it happened. . . First HalfThe Suns came out energized but could not make any shots 36% shooting in the first quarter while the Blazers were shooting well (55%). But the Suns kept it tied by generating five more shots thanks to gang offensive rebounding in Deandre Ayton absence. That was necessary considering without Ayton, the Suns are potentially the league worst rebounding team while the Blazers are one of the best. C. J. McCollum and Damian Lillard were hyper-focused in this one, making 10 of their first 13 shots for 23 of the Blazers first 38 points. Another slice of their first 38 points is that 22 of them have come in the paint. Another side effect of Ayton being out. Aaaannd then the next shot was a C. J. three to give the two Blazers 26 of the first 41. The Suns just could not get their shooting in order https://www.phoenixfanstoreonline.com/Jevon_Carter_Face_Mask-108, still stuck at 38% late in the second quarter. Yet they still had a 43-42 lead with 3:08 to go thanks to frenetic gang rebounding (+3) leading to 7 more shots by this point and a 5-point advantage on free throws (7 to 2). Portland eventually got the lead going into halftime, 53-52, as McCollum drained a couple more threes. Suns staying alive, now 11-4 on FT advantage, and 10-4 on second-chance points advantage. Blazers just drilling shots, and that exactly what expected of the league second best offense this season. Second halfThe Suns came out hustling again in the third quarter, taking a 61-58 lead in the first couple of minutes, but the Blazers offense if just too good to hold down Dario Saric Face Mask. It a good thing Nurkic is shooting poorly, although if you ask Nurk he say it because he was getting hacked (which may or may not be true). The scoring remained low on both sides tied at 62-62 almost halfway through the third quarter due to a combination of bad shooting and good defense. The Suns kept threatening to break it open late in the third, but shot after shot rimmed out after good defensive sequences. . . until a Mikal Bridges breakaway got the Suns up 75-70 to force a Blazers timeout. At this point, Bridges was up to 19 points and 9 rebounds, really filling in for the missing Ayton with extra effort on the boards. Plus, he guarding Dame a lot. And Cameron Payne was excellent off the bench, with 10/5/4 by end of three. Suns had an 85-77 lead going into the 4th behind a much needed feel-good sequence of stops and scores that got the crowd roaring. For the Blazers, Lillard and McCollum now accounted for 41 of their 77 points on 60% shooting. And then it the Phoenix Suns Arena became the HOUSE OF PAYNE. Payne made several shots to give the Suns a 9-point lead early in the 4th and the crowd was rocking again. Payne now had 21 points (11 in the quarter). But Chris Paul would not let the Blazers go quietly. He had only 17 points entering the 4th, but scored another 18 in the first 7. 5 minutes of the final frame to keep the game close. It helped that Robert Covington NAILED a few threes (now up to 4-7 for the game), and suddenly the game was tied again at 107-107. The Blazers are now up to the dangerous 48% on threes (15 of 31) one of the few and only keys to beat this Suns team. Oh and there Dame. He doesn ever take a play off. And he didn take ANY plays off in that fourth quarter. He had 25 all by himself, in the 4th quarter alone.

Despite a Barclays Center fan contingent that included a two-time NBA champ, a Super Bowl champ, a Grammy Award winner and a billionaire couple (who also own the home team), the Liberty fell to the Chicago Sky for the second time in three days, 91-68. The Liberty just seem to struggle in two game mini-series. They suffered two blowout losses in Vegas to the Aces last week, and have now suffered the same fate to the Chicago Sky this week. After losing to the Sky by 20 points on Tuesday, New York got blown out again on Thursday, this time by 23 points. The Sky led by as many as 30 points, but New York fought back and won the second half 41-36. It was the Sky seventh straight win. The Sky is now 9-7, the Liberty 7-8. Rookie standout Michaela Onyewere led New York with 16 points. The first year forward out of UCLA struggled in the first half, shooting 1-of-10 from the field and having trouble getting layups to fall. In the second half, however, she bounced back with 11 points in the final two frames of action. Postgame, head coach Walt Hopkins praised Onyewere performance, saying: he did a great job being aggressive. When she goes off of two feet, she tends to draw fouls and finish better. She had a habit of going off one foot. I was really happy with the way she attacked she got into the paint at will. eammate Kylee Shook added; ichaela an amazing player, amazing person. She gives 100% effort every night, so it not a surprise she played as she did. Offensively, she kept attacking. Shots weren falling so she got to the rim and score. ND-1 by monyenwere_ ! Thursday night game was the Liberty annual Pride Night https://www.brooklynfanstoreonline.com/Spencer_Dinwiddie_Hoodie-37, where they celebrated LGBTQ culture. The Liberty held a panel with players Sami Whitcomb and Jazmine Jones answered questions as it was live streamed to the public. Betnijah Laney and Sami Whitcomb added 14 points apiece as starters on the wing, but the Liberty ultimately fell very short of the needed offensive output to overcome Chicago scoring onslaught. When asked post-game how long these up-and-down minutes would continue, Hopkins said that he was unsure and that it would depend on her rest during the Olympic break, which begins July 15 and runs through August 11. Ionescu was not selected Team USA. Despite not stuffing the stat sheet, Liberty rookie DiDi Richards had a tangible impact on tonight game even in limited minutes. Richards has been an energy spark plug all year and that showed against the Sky Tyler Johnson Face Mask. In her ten minutes, the Liberty outscored Chicago by 12 points. That +/- is by far the highest on the team. Post-game, Whitcomb commented on her teammate energy: t what DiDi does. . . it different opportunities, different games that she gets those minutes. She capitalizes and makes the most of them. It her style, it her DNA. She works hard, she got good hands, she athletic. he Chicago Sky were led by Kahleah Copper and Diamond DeShields, who each scored 18 points on 57. 1 percent and 53. 8 percent shooting from the field, respectively. Courtney Vandersloot had 13 points and 9 assists while Candace Parker added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Durant and his business partner Rich Kleiman attended Thursday night game, sitting alongside Nets governor Joe Tsai and his wife Clara Wu Tsai, who the Liberty co-governor. The Nets have been raking the rounds recently; head coach Steve Nash attended the Liberty game on Tuesday, and Durant was at a Mets game last night. Durant was seen taking photos with fans and greeting friends postgame. KD's at Barclays for the Sky-Liberty gameLiberty vs Sky Seattle Seahawk quarterback Russell Wilson and his wide receiver DK Metkalf were also at Barclays on Thursday as was Wilson wife, the singer/songwriter Ciara. . dkm14DangeRussWilsonHere are the game highlights: Despite the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions DeAndre Jordan Pet Jersey, the Liberty attendance has not risen dramatically. On Thursday, only 2,148 were on hand, about the same as what they drew in 2019 when they played at the Westchester County Center. Before James Dolan, then the Liberty owner, moved the team to Westchester, the team was drawing nearly 10,000 to Madison Square Garden. Next up for the Liberty are the Atlanta Dream, who theyl face for the second time this year on Saturday in Atlanta, kicking off yet another mini-series.

It no secret the Orlando Magic still need some help at the point guard position Grant Hill Pillow Cover. With both D. J. Augustin and Michael Carter-Williams set to enter free agency in the coming weeks, finding some insurance at the lead guard spot is a must for the Magic. While it likely theyl bring back one, if not both of Augustin and Carter-Williams, the Magic are still going to need to look towards the future and bringing in someone who younger and fits their timeline more. Using the 15th pick in the SB Nation Blogger Mock Draft, I took North Carolina point guard Cole Anthony for the Magic. In his lone year with the Tar Heels, Anthony showed an ability to score the ball in a myriad of ways, including an ability to knock down the outside shot, something the Magic are still desperately searching for. His willingness and ability to get out and run in the open court is something that could benefit the Magic as well, who saw glimpses of good play while pushing the pace the last few seasons. Taking Anthony could also open up some added flexibility for the Magic with lineups Cole Anthony Hoodie. While he likely going to be best suited to play a lead guard role, his ability to knock down the three ball in catch and shoot scenarios would open up the potential for him to be able to play along with Markelle Fultz in some lineups, or even with someone like a Carter-Williams if he back in a Magic uniform. Anthony still has some work to do on the defensive end of the floor, but is someone who willing to work hard, and showed glimpses of potential to become a serviceable defender, something he would undoubtedly have to do to play in a system coached by Steve Clifford. In this mock, things didn work out the way I was exactly hoping. I was hoping that one of Devin Vassell or Aaron Nesmith would fall to me to shore up things on the wing some, but getting Anthony was still something I was happy about. It also worth noting that, due to the uncertainty around the salary cap https://www.storeorlando.com/Jonathan_Isaac_Pet_Jersey-111, we were not allowed to make any trades. He has the potential to be one of the best point guards in this class, and would be good value and insurance for the Magic with the 15th pick.

For the first time in over a month, the Phillies won more than one game in a row this week https://www.philadelphiagearstore.com/Custom_Pet_Jersey-256. They apparently liked that feeling so much, they decided to win two more games in a row immediately following the previous two games they won. It just so happens all four of those games were against one team, the Brewers, who entered Citizens Bank Park on Monday in first place in the National League Central. The first three games were all one-win victories in which the Phillies held big leads early only to watch Milwaukee comebacks fall one run short each night, with the final game punctuated by a ridiculously good complete game shutout by Zack Wheeler. The Phillies don author four-game sweeps very often and the big question following a surprising four-game sweep against a good time like the Brewers is always, ill it carry forward? Will the team use this encouraging four-game stretch as a springboard to more consistent play? Is it a sign of better things to come?r, as has been their recent history, is it more a random anomaly than a portend of better days?Last year, the Phillies swept the Washington Nationals in a four-game series at Citizens Bank Park as part of their late August-early September run of 10 wins in 11 games. It really felt the team had turned a corner, but following that four game sweep, they split a four-game series with the Mets, split a two-gamer with Boston, then played an insane seven-game series in Miami in which they lost five games and, essentially, the season. Had their schedule not been decimated by that ridiculous, COVID-induced, seven-game series, maybe the Phils would have maintained their momentum. Then again, if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride. In 2019, the Phillies swept a four game series from the Mets at home, the last two on walk off homers (Jean Segura famous blast that sent Mike Francessa into a tizzy) in late June. They followed that up with series losses in Miami and Atlanta https://www.philadelphiagearstore.com/Ranger_Suarez_Pet_Jersey-412, a series win at the Mets and a series loss against the Nationals at home.In 2018, the Phils swept the Pirates in an early four-game tilt at Citizens Bank Park, one of Gabe Kapler first series as manager (it hard to remember that after his inauspicious start, that four-game sweep brought their record to 14-7). The Phils followed that sweep with four straight series losses, to Arizona and Atlanta at home and to the Marlins and Nationals on the road. However, the Phils then took four straight against the Giants at home, their second four-game sweep of the season. A record of 11-15 in their next 26 games followed. You get the point. Over the last few seasons, the Phillies have been unable to extend winning streaks. In fact, the last time they had a winning streak of at least seven games was in 2012 Nick Maton Pillow Cover, and their last six-game winning streak was in 19.No one expects the team to rattle off 10-game winning streaks as a matter of habit, but good teams are able to build momentum. But are the Phillies a ood team?Winning streaks require a number of things to go right. Hitters need to hit with runners in scoring position. So far this year, the Phils are hitting .233 with RISP, 19th in MLB. Starting pitchers need to pitch deep into games. So far, the top three starters are getting the job done...Just in case there's any question about the strength of the Phillies' roster: Aaron Nola, Zack Wheeler, and Zach Eflin have combined to throw 130 innings, more than any starter trio in baseball. Next: Dodgers' Trevor Bauer, Clayton Kershaw, Julio Urias (121 2/3 innings). However, while some of the middle relievers turned big leads into tight games this week, Hector Neris and Sam Coonrod saved the team bacon with huge five-out saves during the sweep. It also unreasonable to expect the Phillies to continue their string of one-run victories. Their 9-6 mark is among the best in baseball, but those types of narrow escapes are difficult to sustain. In short, the Phillies need to play better and get healthier. Bryce Harper and Jean Segura need to return to the lineup (Segura will be back this weekend),

The teen was something of a known quality, having made his name on the exhibition and showcase circuit going back years. Considered by many a borderline first-round talent, the shortstop was available when the Mets made their second pick thanks to a quad injury that cost him some time that spring and a strong commitment to the University of Miami. He spent most of that season with the GCL Mets https://www.newprostoreonline.com/Custom_Hoodie-104, hitting in 47 games and then spent the entire 2018 season in Kingsport, where he hit in 60 games. In 2019, the Mets put Vientos on an aggressive developmental track, assigning the 19-year-old to the Columbia Fireflies. His season was a bit of a disappointment in terms of the expectations placed on him, but he posted a slightly above-average batting line relative to the South Atlantic League, hitting in 111 games with 12 home runs, 22 walks, and 110 strikeouts. Following the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season due to COVID-19 and the reshuffling of the minor leagues, Vientos was assigned to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to start the 2021 season, completely skipping Low-A . I had Vientos ahead of Brett Baty in my 2020 Top Prospect list. I had Vientos ahead of Brett Baty in my 2021 Top Prospect list. Especially when compared to Baty, who plays the same position and has a very similar, almost identical skillset, I felt that Vientos continually got unfairly glossed over in favor of the shiny new toy. Younger than Baty, Vientos was further along in his professional development, and had posted better numbers than Baty had at the levels they both had competed at. Ie seen both Vientos and Baty this year, two games for Vientos and five games for Baty so far this season. I had seen both prior to this season, catching Vientos for five games and Baty for eight in 2019. I saw their strengths and I saw their flaws. Baty seems to have addressed his flaws, showing up to spring training much slimmer and more athletic and making slight changes to his set-up at the plate. Vientos, on the other hand, when I saw him did not. When I saw him in 2019, he showed major problems recognizing spin. Ironically, I saw him at his lowest point of the season so that magnifies his struggles in my minds eye, but he struck out 8 times in 25 plate appearances and half of those strikeouts . For what it worth, he cut down on his strikeout rate. In 16 games, he struck out 17 times. Compare that to his May, when he struck out 31 times in 21 games. I sat down and watched every strikeout this month to see what the Bowie, Portland, and Reading batters were still getting him with. Two of those seventeen strikeouts were looking, one on a fastball away and the other on a slider down and away; the rest were swinging. Of those 15 swinging strikeouts, five were on fastballs, five were on sliders/curveballs, four were on changeups and one was on an off-speed pitch I could not identify. Three strikeouts were on pitches up in the zone or above it and fifteen were on pitches down in the zone or below it. Six strikeouts were on pitches in and eight were on pitches away and three were on pitches right down the middle of the plate Kevin Pillar Pet Jersey. A large percentage of those strikeouts were in his first at-bat https://www.newprostoreonline.com/Custom_Flag-173, enough for me to raise my eyebrow and think maybe they are by design, that he has been using his first at-bats to get a sense of the pitcher he is facing and get a look at their stuff. I am far from a hitting coach, and the angle eye. Am I missing something Is it just a coincidence that he is having his best month when facing the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Bowie Baysox, the Portland Sea Dogs, and the Reading Fightin Phils, all of whom are in the bottom half of the Double-A Northeast in terms of run prevention and ERA , 7. 0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER Born in Uriangato, a city in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, Oscar Rojas was signed by the Mets as an international free agent on May 23, 2017, near the end of the 2017-2018 international free agent signing period. The 18-year-old right-hander was assigned to the Mets Dominican Summer League squadron when the league began play a few days later and he posted a 2. 18 ERA in seven starts, allowing 27 hits in 33. 0 innings, walking 2 and striking out 35. Rojas was promoted stateside in 2018, starting the season with the GCL Mets and earning a promotion to Kingsport at the end of the season after posting a 3. 83 ERA in 42. 1 innings with 34 hits allowed, 12 walks, and 40 strikeouts. His time in Kingsport was brief, starting and losing a pair of road games against the Danville Braves and the Pulaski Yankees, giving up six earned runs over eight innings with 11 hits allowed, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Rojas missed the entire 2019 season due to injury and then missed the entire 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season due to COVID-19. When the Mexican Pacific League began play at the end of the year, the right-hander played for the Algodoneros de Guasave. Appearing in 13 games for them and making 6 starts, the 21-year-old posted a 1. 78 ERA in 35. 1 innings, allowing 22 hits, walking 20, and striking out 22. When the 2021 season began, he was initially assigned to the Brooklyn Cyclones, but was demoted to the St. Lucie Mets struggling out of the gate and allowing 17 earned runs in 13. 0 innings. The move from High-A to Low-A has allowed Rojas to pitch to hitters more appropriate to his talent level, and the right-hander currently has a 0. 98 ERA in 27. 2 innings, allowing 19 hits Miguel Castro Hoodie, walking 6, and striking out 25. Rojas is on the shorter side for a pitcher, standing 511 . He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, falling off the first-base side of the rubber during his follow-through. Because of his short, squat frame, the right-hander does not throw his pitches with much plane, downward making him susceptible to home runs since so many pitches are hit in the air. The right-hander generally pitches backwards, throwing his curveball and changeup pitches than his fastball. His curveball sits in the mid-70s-to-low-80s and features floaty 12-6 break. His changeup sits in the low-to-mid-80s and has slightly above-average vertical and horizontal drop rates thanks to its slightly above-average spin rate.

It was a beautiful (albeit cold) day at Target Field on Sunday. As I sat in one of the deepest parts of center field with my family, and a smattering of families from our elementary school. Despite the smiles being hidden by masks, and friends being separated by seats that had been zip-tied closed, our school outing was a fundraising success. It even looked like we be walking away with a win. Hooray!<Enter Alex Colom in the 9th and cue the record scratch>I sent this text to the other Twinkie Towners in the 9th of the game after Colom blew yet another save:I can prove it, but I have my suspicions. We here at Twinkie Town were fairly pumped to have had the Twins sign the veteran reliever back in February. In 2016, he was an All Star, and in 2017 https://www.minnesotagearshop.com/Kent_Hrbek_T_shirt-8, he lead all of the majors with 47 saves. His only ad season was the first half of 2018 - but then he was traded to Seattle, got his head on straight, and dominated his opponents by giving up just 13 earned runs in 46. 1 innings. As the White Sox closer, he amassed 30 saves in 2019, and put up a . 081 ERA in his 12 saves in 2020 shortened season. So it was a safe bet that he be a suitable replacement for some of those arms that we lost in the off season. But so far I underwhelmed. Granted, he only appeared in 5 games in this very young season, but in said 5 games. . . well it not good. He blew the save in his first appearance on Opening Day - though, none of the three runs scored in the ninth were technically earned by him and Rob Manfred Randy Dobnak got the loss in the tenth. And Sunday loss saw Colom most definitely earn the three runs that lost the game in the ninth. He does have two saves under his belt so far, but the two blown saves have definitely put a shadow over his overall performance Michael Pineda Flag. Ok, so I don think he actually still in cahoots with his former team, but I do think he got some work to do in order to prove himself as someone who can be our go-to guy in the ninth here in Minnesota. As fans, wee been spoiled by closers like Everyday Eddie or Joe tand up and Shout Nathan, knowing that once they come into the game, you might as well start heading to the parking lot because it lights out. When guys like that are still in the memory of Twins fans, itl be hard to stack up, no matter who you are. Part of me is wondering when we are going to hear about some nagging injury as he sent to the IL to be able to put another pitcher (cough cough Devin Smeltzer) in the rotation while he works out his new-team kinks. (Or maybe when they do the same with a struggling Cave or Sano and bring in Kirilloff, but that for a different post entirely). In any case, I am hoping that Colom can get his head on straight before we get too deep into the season. The damage done so far has been minimal, but I waiting to see the lights-out guy we thought we were signing. I know it easy for me to be a keyboard warrior and talk about what I think the Twins should be doing, but it also wouldn be the worst thing in the world if the Twins put someone else in the ninth for a while until Colom can become the fearsome beast we know he is https://www.minnesotagearshop.com/Tzu_wei_Lin_Pet_Jersey-388.

If you knew the Milwaukee Brewers were going to hit five home runs tonight against the Detroit Tigers, you would have bet the farm on a Brewers win. With the Brewers starting pitching prowess and the fact that they were playing a sub- https://www.milwaukeefanstoreonline.com/Christian_Yelich_Flag-167. 500 club would have the odds of that bet coming up blue and gold an almost certainty. Unfortunately you would have lost that bet this evening. The bats were on full display as Kolten Wong and Tyrone Taylor went deep twice a piece and Luis Urias added one for good measure. The starting pitching failed to show up this evening however. The Brewers sent Eric Lauer to the mound for the start, and he struggled mightily. He lasted just two innings. He gave up seven runs on seven hits all earned. The big issue, as it has been for much of his time as a Brewer, was the long ball. Tonight he gave up three. Add two doubles and two walks to the equation, and it was actually surprising that the Tigers scored just seven off Lauer. The Brewers put up some offense too. In the first, the Brewers actually took an early lead when Kolten Wong led things off with a solo shot over the right field wall. Nothing like a homer to start the month off right! After a 6-run second inning by the Tigers https://www.milwaukeefanstoreonline.com/Adrian_Houser_Flag-122, the Brewers did score one in the bottom of the second. This time it was a solo shot off the bat of Tyrone Taylor who was just called up from Nashville to replace the injured Lorenzo Cain on the roster. Welcome back, Tyrone!! Lauer would give up one more run in the third and not record an out in the inning. From there, the Brewers bullpen held the Tigers to just one more run. Trevor Richards stopped the bleeding, and Adrian Houser pitched for the next five innings, keeping Milwaukee within striking distance. Over his five innings, he gave up just one run and struck out six. The Brewers did their share of scoring in this one too. They scored two in the bottom of the third. After a Daniel Robertson walk, Kolten Wong hit his second homer of the night. They scored one in the fifth as well. After a Christian Yelich single, Avisail Garcia doubled. Yelich scored all the way from first. In the bottom of the eighth, Tyrone Taylor achieved his first two homer game of his big league career. This time he pulled the ball over the left field wall https://www.milwaukeefanstoreonline.com/Greg_Vaughn_Face_Mask-218. That made the score 8-6, and things looked at least promising. Unfortunately Eric Yardley has not been able to replicate in 2021 what he did in 2020. His struggles continued tonight as he took over the top of the ninth. Three walks, a wild pitch, and a double led to two runs for the Tigers, extending the Brewers deficit back up to four at 10-6. Milwaukee showed a little fight in the bottom of the ninth. Luis Urias went deep to lead off the inning. Travis Shaw followed by drawing a walk. With that brought the top of the lineup with no one out and a runner on. The excitement turned to dismay as the Brewers went down 1-2-3 with Wong, Adames, and Yelich. Milwaukee gets a day off tomorrow, but get back to it on Thursday when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 CT. The game will be televised on Bally Sports Wisconsin and broadcast over the radio on WTMJ 620 and the Brewers Radio Network.
